How Do You Incorporate Self-Care Into Your Daily Routine?

How Do You Incorporate Self-Care Into Your Daily Routine?
As a busy homemaker, homesteading mom and wife, it can be hard to find time to "just be".  Our days are filled with grocery shopping, housework, keeping things organized around the home, keeping the schedule straight for the family, making meals from scratch...the list seems endless.  So what can we, as moms, do when our days seem so overwhelming and we just have a hard time functioning and keeping up?

First and foremost, start your day with God.  This can be a prayer or meditation as you start your day.  It may be a quite study time as you have your first cup of coffee.  Whatever it is, always start your day with God.

Make a list of things that you need to get done.  Prioritize your list and choose your top 3 that HAVE to be done.  This helps clear your mind and free some space to help you manage your day.

But what if you have done these things and you still feel overwhelmed?  That's when I like to do a quick little mind reset using the Aroma Reset.  It's a branch of the Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT) that is super quick and very beneficial.  I keep a roller bottle with the Memory Release Blend of oils in it, ready to use at a moments notice.  When I feel overwhelmed or super stressed out, I grab the bottle and roll it on my wrists and the back of my neck.  I take a moment to breath it in and relax.  Seriously, it only takes about 60 seconds and my brain resets and I am able to better accomplish the task at hand.

Need to know more about this quick reset?  I offer a 30-minute one-on-one coaching call where I not only walk you through this reset, I also walk you through an extended version (also super quick to use!) so that you have the tools you need to do these techniques throughout your day as needed.  This session also includes a sample of the memory release blend that you can carry along with you and use as needed.

Trust me, your whole family will benefit from you taking a minute here and there throughout your day to reset your mind and let go of the stress and overwhelm.

A 10-Year Quest: Exploring Natural Health from Oils to Herbs

A 10-Year Quest: Exploring Natural Health from Oils to Herbs
Do you ever find yourself on a path that you totally geek out on?  If you have followed me for long, you know that I love continual education.  I have spent the past 5 years or so growing my knowledge and certifications.  It truly brings me joy.  But when I first started down the path of certifications, I had NO idea it would lead me here.

Then I take a moment, step back in time, and realize that I actually started on this path over 10 years ago!  I really don't know what year it was.  I know my youngest was a baby (who is now 15 yrs old 😳) and we lived in a different area, which was over 11 yrs ago.  Wow!  How time flies!!

Now that I took that little jog down memory lane, I realize that my path to natural health and wellness began way back then.  It all started with trying to treat headaches.  I discovered essential oils and dug into experimenting and learning.  I'll admit, I wasn't using PURE essential oils as I should have been and therefore didn't get the desired results (but that's a topic for another time).  My point is, that was the start of the path I'm currently on...and thankfully I have now found some PURE essential oils that I LOVE and use daily!

Add to that the need I had to cater to my daughter's strict dietary needs (another story for another time) and I had to do a TON of research and learn all I could about how to supply her needs...naturally.

Now, fast-forward to August of 2023.  I was scrolling FB and an ad caught my attention.  I usually ignore them but there was something about this one. It was about herbalism.  I jumped on it and purchased a short course because it was super cheap.  And that was it...I was all in.  I quickly got on my computer and searched up Herbalism Courses and Certifications.  After a little research I landed on one that seemed reputable and full of all the things I wanted to learn.

Thankfully my husband supports me in all of these endeavors...in more ways than one!  He was all for me continuing my education, knowing that it will benefit our whole family.  And my goal is to not stop there!  My goal is to take my knowledge far enough that I can help other moms with natural remedies.

I am thoroughly enjoying this course and geek out more and more every day as I grow my knowledge and my herb collection.

I can't wait to share little tid-bits with you along the way.  This is also part of what I will be offering my my HomeMaker's Haven Membership.  It's a great place for me to share the knowledge I'm gaining and help as many moms as possible!

Now, please excuse me while I go geek out a bit more about all that God has given us in nature!

The Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT)

The Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT)

As mentioned in some of my other blog posts, I am a Certified Aroma Freedom Practitioner. This process has worked wonders on my emotions, as well as many other people I have had the privilege to share the process with.

What is the Aroma Freedom Technique?

What exactly is the Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT)? It is a step-by-step process that uses the power of scent to gently shift your awareness away from being negative to positive. It does this by replacing those thoughts and memories with a new positive outlook and attitude. This results in greater confidence in yourself.  When negative mindsets are no longer holding you back, you are free to create the life you desire.

Why am I qualified to help?

The Aroma Freedom Technique, coupled with my training as a Life Coach, has given me a powerful tool that is often used to help others move past blocks that are standing in the way of reaching their goals and dreams. Once the blocks are removed, they can more confidently move forward and achieve their dreams.

There are several branches that fall under Aroma Freedom.  I'll go over a brief description of them here:

  • Aroma Reset is used for a current stressful situation to help you clear the stress and move forward.
  • Aroma Boost is used after clearing a current situation (as in the Aroma Reset) to help you move forward by creating a new vision.  This moves you from the present into the future.
  • Aroma Clear is used when an Aroma Reset brings up past memories that you need to deal with in order to move forward.
  • TMRT (The Memory Resolution Technique) is used when you know there is a specific memory/situation from the past that needs to be dealt with before you can move forward.
  • Aroma Freedom is used when you have a goal in mind that you want to reach.  You start from where you are currently and look forward to the future.

The Aroma Freedom Technique is something that everyone can benefit from. I offer a variety of sessions, along with my coaching programs. If you are interested, please schedule a FREE 15 minute consult session here.

If you are a mom who finds herself struggling to find peace and balance around the home, and who has feels you have lost your true identity, I'd love to help!

Taking Care of Your Mental Health

Mental health is something I have always been mindful of.  I took some courses in college and loved it all!  Though I didn't finish my degree, I found myself furthering my education in a different manner.  In 2018 I became certified in the Aroma Freedom Technique.  This is an amazing process that helps people overcome what is holding them back so that they can reach their goals and dreams.  This process has worked wonders on my emotions, as well as many other people I have had the privilege to share it with.

5 Steps To Combat Feeling Stressed And Overwhelmed

Do you find your self easily stressed and overwhelmed with daily life?  Cooking, cleaning, caring for the kids, homeschool, working from home...the list goes on.  Does it ever slow down?

There are several things that can add to our daily stresses.  You may find it hard to make time for yourself to unwind at the end of a long day or for a healthy diet and exercise.  There is so much information out there these days that it's hard to know where to start.  However, it's kind of a big deal and one you don't want to let go too far.

If stress isn't managed well it can lead to more health problems and also affects relationships. What's a busy, overwhelmed mom to do? Maybe you've already tried KonMarie, shopping at health food stores, buying "green" products, or maybe even a specialty cookbook (keto or paleo). But sometimes that just doesn't cut it. It's hard to find the right balance that works for not just one area of your home but for the whole family. A balance that suits the needs of everyone and also doesn't take more of your precious time.

Here are some steps I have found to help tone down the stresses of daily life so that I don't become overwhelmed:
  1. Diffuse calming essential oils.  Essential oil blends like Stress Away or Peace & Calming help set the tone for a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
  2. Make a list of priorities.  Work on them one at a time.
    • Family time
    • Time for yourself to unwind at the end of the day
    • Family wellness (diet and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle)
    • Home organization & cleaning
  3. Pick one new item from the list above to incorporate daily.  Do this once a day for 4 weeks.  For example:
    • Habit 1: diffuse daily
    • Habit 2: drink NingXia Red daily
    • Habit 3: apply an oil daily
    • Habit 4: switch household cleaning items to Thieves
  4. Create a family chore/task board so that each person knows what they need to do each day to help take the pressure off of you to get it all done.
  5. Commit to at least one way to unwind each day.  This could be reading a book at night, taking a bath, or maybe treating yourself to a solo outing once a month.
What things do you do to help keep the stress at bay?  I'd love to hear how you keep your life in balance.
